It was one of those late nights scrolling through Twitter when something out of the ordinary caught my sight: Elon Musk was hosting a live Twitter Space to discuss elections. I joined, as did thousands more. The virtual room was buzzing with energy as people took screenshots of seeing their name next to the tech mogul, some weird quirk if you joined in early enough.
While I missed my chance at that coveted screenshot moment, something even more unexpected was about to unfold. As I wrestled with my heavy eyelids-it was already midnight-I was content just to listen to Elon answer questions from various participants. Thinking it was time to take a night off, I went to leave a quick like before exiting.
That's when it happened.
And my finger slipped, clicking the "raise hand" in a sleepy state. Surprisingly, this minor move had created some disturbance in the flow within the Space. And then, voilà -what could never have happened happened: Elon Musk himself stopped and said, "Hi Tamago!"
In the blink of an eye, one of the co-hosts jumped in, pointing at all the raised hands and reminding them that, with very few slots available for speakers, they would have to wait their turn. I was mortified, yet amazed. Had that really happened? A mistaken tap on my part had let me be directly acknowledged by one of the most famous tech entrepreneurs in the world!
The fact that he noticed the "Brgy Tamago" username made it even more special. You couldn't have planned it as one of those "happy accidents". While I may have been too sleepy to appreciate such a moment then, it's now a story I'll never forget: how on earth my clumsy fingers led to a personal greeting from Elon Musk himself.
Sometimes the best things in life are simply not planned-even less so when it's a virtual space at midnight when you're half-sleeping! ????
