The Kalye Tamago Podcast is back with a bang, marking the start of a new GameFi ERA! Host Mike Tamago and co-host Dong Ayan TV sat down at the beautiful Uplip Coworking Space [00:27] with the newest generation of creators from the Brgy Tamago community, collectively known as Powder Four.

This episode wasn't just a discussion; it was a trip down memory lane, comparing the "Old School" gaming days with the roller-coaster world of play-to-earn (P2E) and Web3 gaming.
Meet the POMO 4
The podcast introduced the fresh faces who are continuing the Brgy Tamago tradition of delivering information and entertainment:
Arat Boy Gaming (The Robot): Described as the "highest evolution" and a long-time member of the community [06:29].
Mapaglaro (now "Mapagmahal"): Started as a live viewer and eventually became a content creator, finding a solid community and guidance in crypto and trading within the Brgy [11:43].
Jcir Crepdrop PH (The Baby Boy): A competitive gamer who sought out P2E games through "YouTube University" and discovered Mike Tamago [27:34].
The Evolution of a Gamer: From Physical to Digital
The group shared their nostalgic "Old School" gaming experiences, highlighting just how much the industry has changed:
Dong Ayan TV recalled playing traditional Filipino street games like Tumbang Preso and Sipa before jumping into PC classics like GTA and Counter-Strike [16:04], [18:35].
Arat Boy Gaming recounted spending his school allowance on computer shop time to play Counter-Strike, often getting into turf wars, and the golden age of Ragnarok Online where you had to buy physical access cards to play [19:59], [21:31].
Jcir Crepdrop PH came from the era of pogs, text, and console games, and later focused on competitive titles like Crossfire and League of Legends (LoL) before pivoting to P2E [25:24], [27:03].
Lessons from the GameFi Bull Run (2021)
The discussion quickly moved to the GameFi ERA, where the focus shifted from playing for fun to playing for profit (Game and Finance) [28:55]. The team remembered the peak of the 2021 bull run:
The Flood of P2E: The market was saturated with click-to-earn and farming games like Axi, Crypto Blades, PBU (Plant vs Undead), and even bizarre clones like Crypto Bike and Crypto Taxi [31:36].
Profit Over Quality: The key takeaway from this time was that many projects were initially profitable simply because the market was booming, even if the game itself was "ugly" [31:00]. However, most quickly rug-pulled or faded away.
Rage Quit Moments: The Hard Lessons of Web3
The creators didn't shy away from sharing their most painful and funny "rage quit" moments, offering vital lessons for new players:
DYOR is King: Arat Boy Gaming shared a story of a Crypto Blades clone where he immediately re-invested profits from another game, only to lose it all. His key lesson: Always do your own research (DYOR) before entering a project [37:25], [38:45].
Don't FOMO on Hype: Dong Ayan TV lost his investment in a mobile game (Gala/GalaXy) promoted by celebrities, only to find that only those with high-tier NFTs were earning [35:19].
High Risk, High Reward: Mapaglaro admitted to losing an initial ₱10,000 in Crypto Blades in less than a week [40:05]. He recovered quickly with a later project (PBU) after borrowing money, highlighting the volatile nature of the early market. He also recalled the infamous "wheel" game (gulong) where a single NFT was priced at $15,000 [48:22].
Use a Midman (MM) for Safety: Jcir Crepdrop PH was scammed and lost his Night Cross account after a P2P transaction where the buyer used a stolen identity and promised to use a middleman but didn't [44:09]. His most crucial advice: Never transact P2P without a trusted midman. The Brgy Tamago even has its own midman service, Tamago Kartel, to help facilitate safe transactions [45:43].
The Future of GameFi in Brgy Tamago
Looking ahead, the Powder Four announced their plans for weekly or monthly segments focusing on GameFi news, updates on the best free-to-play earning methods, and MMO RPG discussions [53:50]. They also shouted out the upcoming Legendere RPG, which they are excited to cover [56:18].
The group concluded by expressing profound gratitude to Mike Tamago and the Brgy Tamago community for their guidance, saying that the goal is to "guide you from the start until you reach your goal" [01:00:03].
